Course overview and goals

This class aims to acquire academic Japanese competence. Specifically, the students are requested to present the virtue of the book, movie, drama, manga, or animation to the audience using advanced communication skills.

Course description and aims

The following advanced skills can be acquired after this class: 1) the confidence through understanding books and video works in Japanese; 2) selective competence of choosing importance from a large amount of the data for the audience; 3) the strategies to overcome the lack of cultural knowledge.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.

Prerequisites

Only the second year international students are eligible.
Classes in the second quarter of FY2020 will be conducted via remote learning (mainly using zoom).
The first class will be held on June 24, and students who have registered by June 22 will be notified of the details by e-mail on June 23.
