Syllabus

Course overview and goals

In this course students read various texts in German. They will also practice pronouncing and writing.
Students should improve the knowledge of German grammar, and continue to develop their reading skill for practical communication in German. Through the texts and visual materials, they can acquire understanding of German culture.

In this course students will :
1) improve the knowledge of German grammar.
2) be abel to read short texts in German.

Class flow

Students will read various texts and translate from German into Japanese, and practice in pronouncing and writing. Through the texts and visual materials, they can also touch the culture in Germany.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

All Texts are given in classes by the instructor.

Reference books, course materials, etc.

A German-Japanese dictionary is necessary in every class.

Evaluation methods and criteria

The scores are based on exercises in classes (40%) and translations of texts from German into Japanese (60%) .

Prerequisites

Students require the elementary knowledge of German grammar. The enrollment in the "German: Basic Course 1-4" is desirable.
