Syllabus

Course overview and goals

This course provides precious opportunity to study about technology and intellectual property law for the common sense of scientists and engineers. This course is fit for prospected students of Patent attorney. This course lecturers(Hironao Kaneko, Youichi Tagawa, Masataka Ohta, Kiyoshi Toda, Tomoko Sugano, Kanako Inokuchi, Morihiro Okamoto, Nobumichi Tosa, Norihisa Ogawa, Hideo Ogura, Sonoko Tanaka, Katsuhiro Takeda, et al). This course is succession of "Science Technology and Intellectual".
Combining Intellectual Property, Design, Innovative Idea and Start Up Venture, student learn more than law.
Many patent attorneys are practicing the alumni of Tokyo Institute of Technology. The patent attorney is the profession to patenting intellectual property and protecting the client's intellectual property right. This process is necessary to gain the fund that is necessary to continue research work and invention by entrepreneurs. In 2022, the number of the successful candidates of the national patent attorney exam became 16 that occupies 5.6% of all.

Course description and aims

Understand whole intellectual property law system in Japan and competition law for international businesses.
Understand the intellectual property establishing conditions, procedure, infringement suite etc.
