Syllabus

Course overview and goals

Environmental design should integrate physical part with cultural and social part for solving contemporary social problems. In this course, we consider practical developments of environmental designs based on environment-behavior studies, through discussing with professional researchers.

Course description and aims

Through this course, studentswill understand modern methods of environmental design, and will be able to design built environments by using enbrionment-behavior studies. In detail, by the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Clarify basic knowledges for designing well built environments.
2) Do evidence based environmental design.
3) Consider design processes and its value for well designed built environment

Class flow

At the biggining of this course, there are introductions for taking each classes and developping students' own research topics.
6 class will be given by professional researchers, and Students will develop their own subjects through whole schedule.
Finally, students must present their own research topics about environmental design for contemporary society.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
