授業の目的（ねらい）、概要
英語第五に引き続き、この授業科目では、大学レベルでの学修・研究活動を英語で行うために必要な英語運用力のいっそうの向上を目的とした演習を行う。国際意識の醸成に資する目的で海外事情・異文化理解に関する教材を用いるほか、科学技術に関する英語素材を用いる。英語の読解力と聴解力の向上を目指す訓練に加え、口頭の発話練習および構成を考えながらパラグラフや短いエッセイを書く訓練を行うことによって、英語での発信に習熟することも目指す。
到達目標
この授業科目では、次のような英語の知識と運用力およびコミュニケーションへの姿勢を身につけることが目標となる。
・英語で自己表現する力がつく
・パラグラフや短いエッセイを書く力がつく
・英語の講義を理解する聴解力がつく
・英文を読みこなすための方法が身につく

授業の進め方
This course firstly aims at learning new vocabulary, practicing making a good summary, and developing interpretation of a British novel, and secondly improving writing skills by constructing a standard process paragraph and a whole essay.
Students are also required to make a presentation a few times in a quarter. According to their presentation contents, two academic drafts are required to submit as part of the midterm and final exams.
