Syllabus

Course overview and goals

Lecturers who are managers of foreign-affiliated companies based overseas for various industrial fields give lectures on the business of their companies, R&D activities, cooperate cultures and values, and the business relationship between an overseas head office and Japanese subsidiaries. In addition, lecturers give on their own career development such as why they decided to join their companies.

The purpose of the course is for doctoral students to consider the contents of lectures as role models for their own future career building, and to find lessons from them, regardless of whether the technical fields or businesses in which lecturers are engaged are of interest to students.

Therefore, it is expected to actively ask questions from students to lecturers, rather than passively listening to the lectures, in order to utilize effectively contents of the lectures for each students career building.

Distribution of lecture materials, submission of reports, and communication related to lectures will be done using the OCWi system.

Course description and aims

Students will utilize the contents of lectures as a role model for their career building by understanding the following;
・ The actual situations of various industries, and philosophy, research and development, and business of global companies that are in a leading position in their industrial fields.
・ Career building of people who work for foreign-affiliated companies.

Managers, who are at the forefront of companies that lead globally in various industries, introduce the philosophy, R&D and business of the company to which they belong based on their own experience, and how to build their own careers.

Evaluation methods and criteria

・In each lecture, students are required to submit a report on given assignments. In that report, how deeply they understand and consider the assignments from the perspective of developing their future career will be evaluated.
