Course overview and goals
The aim of this course is to help students acquire the basic knowledge of Japanese pronunciation and the ability to present sentences containing technical terms with natural-sounding pronunciation.
Course description and aims
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) understand the basic knowledge of Japanese pronunciation;
2) write the pitch lines and accent marks on technical sentences or terms using the pronunciation dictionary and OJAD (Online Japanese Accent Dictionary);
3) present sentences marked with the pitch lines with natural-sounding pronunciation;
4) present their research with easily understandable pronunciation.

Class flow
Each lesson consists of lectures on Japanese pronunciation and actual training. The first half of this course deals with the basic knowledge of Japanese pronunciation, while the latter half addresses to the subjects in line with students' specialty. To participate in the class, students are required to prepare materials relating to their specialty.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Assessment will be conducted based on students' attendance(21%), homework(29%), small tests(20%), presentations(15%), and the final report(15%).
