Course overview and goals
This course is for students who have completed Ｇerman beginner and intermediate classes, or who have intermediate Level German language skills. Students will read various German texts, practice the expressions they meet for the first time, and practically learn how to read advanced sentences. Students learn grammar and communication skills organically. The main focus of the class is to develop the practical German language skills of the students. By reading and understanding various texts, students will deepen their comprehensive knowledge of German-speaking culture and history.

Class flow
Students read a variety of German sentences using text materials created by their instructor. Students should translate German sentences into Japanese during class hours and submit them every time after class, referring to grammar explanations by the instructor. Students can also write questions to assignments (questions are also accepted by e-mail to instructor). Use dictionaries as well. In the next material, the instructor will provide translation examples of assignment sentences, answer questions, and explain common mistakes.

Study advice (preparation and review)
Use your grammar book to review the basic grammar. Record the words in the assignment sentence in your notes, along with example sentences in the dictionary.
Textbook(s)
Text materials created by the instructor are given as textbooks every time. The text contains a variety of German sentences (assignment sentences), the grammatical knowledge needed to read them, and word notes. In the next material, the instructor will provide translation examples of assignment sentences, answer questions, and explain common mistakes.
Reference books, course materials, etc.
Students should use dictionaries and their elementary grammar textbooks. When reading a dictionary, read not only the meaning of the word, but also the example sentences.
Evaluation methods and criteria
Students should translate the German sentences (assignment sentences) shown in the text materials into Japanese during class hours and submit them after class each time. Based on all submissions, your instructor will evaluate your reading skills in German and the accuracy of your translations.
