Course overview and goals

The standardization strategy is a strategy to create new global rules or systems which are necessary for innovations.
This course gives an overview of the relation between global business and standardization. The standardization and conformity assessment are important activities for global business. This course provides students for basic concepts of conformity assessment, standardization as rule making in the international community, standardization and infrastructure development, standardization as a tool for social innovation, and negotiation technique for standardization.

Course description and aims

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Understand important tools of standardization and conformity assessment for global business.
2) Use strategically standardization and conformity assessment for rule making in the international community, infrastructure development and social innovation.

Course documents will be delivered 3 days before the class. Every lesson contains not only a lecture but also a 15- to 30- minute Q&A and discussion.

Class 2 Risk management authentication Understand authentication as rules for risk assessment.
Class 3 Global economy and conformity assessment Understand conformity assessment as international rules .
Class 4 International standardization in the railway business Understand the importance of standardization for railway business.
Class 5 Railway business and conformity assessment Understand the importance of conformity assessment for infrastructure business.
Class 6 International standardization of IoT understand movements of International standardization of IoT.
Class 7 Negotiation and fighting techniques for standardization, Standardization as a tool for social innovation Acquire Negotiation and fighting techniques for international negotiation. Understand the importance of standardization as a tool for social innovation.
