Course overview and goals
This course covers psychological principles pertaining to educational settings, mostly in school environment. The lectures help students to acquire knowledge of psychology of education.

The students are supposed to gain familiarity with psychological knowledge and application to education.

Class flow
The 2021 class meets via Zoom. In each class, students receive a handout as file attachments in advance, and the lecture goes on by using Powerpoint.

| Class 4 | Memory processes | Understanding the stages of human memory processes. |
| Class 5 | Intelligence and its educational implications | Understanding educational implications of individual intellectual differences. |
| Class 6 | Acquisition of numbers | Understanding how school children learn to deal with numerical information. |
| Class 7 | Learning motivation | Understanding how motivations matter in learning. |
| Class 8 | In-class presentation by the students and feedbacks from the instructor. | Can present the understanding acquired through the coursework. |
Study advice (preparation and review)
To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Final examination counts for 90%. In-class participations account for 10%.
