Syllabus

Course overview and goals

Students experience researches in multiple laboratories. This provides an opportunity for taking specific interests in advanced higher education in the graduate program. The basics of research ethics and engineer ethics are also taught.

Course description and aims

1) Proactical understanding of researches in laboratories.
2) Understanding of research ethics.
3) Connenting to "Independent Research Project (MEC)".

Class flow

Students are first divided into two groups. Each group will take this course in the first or the third quarter. On the first week, orientation of this course is provided. In addition, understanding of engineer/research ethics is also required. From the second week, students are further divided into sub-groups of three to five members. Each sub-group will visit three laboratories during six weeks (two weeks each) and experience a research topic in each laboratory. Reporting is required for activity in each laboratory (three in total).

Class 2 First activity in the first laboratory Conduct a research activity.
Class 3 Second activity in the first laboratory Conduct a research activity.
Class 4 First activity in the second laboratory Conduct a research activity.
Class 5 Second activity in the second laboratory Conduct a research activity.
Class 6 First activity in the third laboratory Conduct a research activity.
Class 7 Second activity in the third laboratory Conduct a research activity.

Evaluation methods and criteria

The score will be evaluated by pass or fail based on the activities and reporting at each of the three laboratories as well as understanding of engineer/research ethics.
