Course overview and goals

In this lecture, you will learn the meaning and method of reading and writing scientific paper in English. Lectures will cover everything you need to know about scientific papers, the basics of dissertation composition, how to write in each section (abstract, introduction, method, results and discussion), and tools that can be used in writing a dissertation.

Course description and aims

Understand the significance of scientific papers written mainly in English in research activities. First, experience practical reading of sscientific papers written in English and practice writing some paragraph and sentences. Ultimately, you will learn how to structure a scientific paper and how to write the sentences needed to describe each section in English.

Lectures will be given by inviting lecturers from companies that specialize in English proofreading of scientific papers.

Lectures will be given in English by a lecturer whose native language is English (twice) and interactive lectures on reading and writing dissertations in Japanese.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
