Course overview and goals

The purpose of this course is to discuss not only the importance of the doctoral dissertation in terms of natural science and engineering, but also what kind of research contributes to solving what kind of problems based on what kind of demands in society, and to be able to explain this to society.

Course description and aims

Ability to persuasively explain the social and economic value of one's own research and development and business proposal to others based on social science knowledge and skills in new business creation, finance, marketing, policy theory, econometrics, etc., and to lead the co-creation of value, as well as to exercise leadership globally (expertise and humanity) )

Class flow

In this course, students will be given hints through guidance on how to think about the value of their research in society, such as what are the social and economic preconditions for the expression of value in their research, and what are the barriers to the expression of value. Based on this, students will consider the value of their own doctoral dissertation research in society, the social issues they are trying to answer, and the expected ripple effects and impact on society from the accomplishment of their research. The students will summarize the contents of their research through discussions with their mentors, as appropriate, and write a final report.
