Syllabus

Course overview and goals

This course invites current managers from foreign affiliates with overseas headquarters, in a variety of industries, to give lectures on corporate business details, R&D initiatives, ways of thinking, and values. Instructors lecture on the qualities and attributes expected of people to participate in value creation.
Whether the student joins a Japanese or a non-Japanese based company, the student will need to be active on the global stage. The nationalities of competing companies span the world. Considering the points mentioned above some relationships between the companies and the universities as well as academic societies are also mentioned.
By understanding early about the situation of global business environment and the required capabilities of the researchers and the engineers, students will be able to expand their view and be able to have more accurate and deeper understanding when thinking about their future careers.

Course description and aims

Students gain understandings of the circumstances in all sorts of industries, and global companies playing leading roles in these industries. Students also deepen their understandings of the qualities, values, and behavioral patterns sought for globally active employees.

Class flow

・This omnibus-format lectures will be taught by instructors from 7 leading global companies from a variety of industries that employ advanced engineering professionals in Japan such as Corning, 3M, DuPont, P&G, Pfizer, DSM, Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Schlumberger, Bosch, Lenovo, and GE Health Care.
・Students are requested to submit feedback card and those cards are used for the evaluation.
