Course overview and goals

This course aims at enabling students to acquire an advanced understanding about Feminism and Queer studies. By the end of this course, students will examine social and historical issues of gender and sexuality independently.

We will analyze some stereotypes of the representation of gender and sexuality.

Class 1 Introduction/Feminism Understand the basic concepts of gender and sexuality.
Class 2 Queer studies(1) Understand the basic concepts of queer studies.
Class 3 Queer studies(2) Understand the relationship between neoliberalism and queer politics.

Class 5 Transgender and cisgender Understand the concepts of transgender and cisgender.
Class 6 Trauma and gender Understand the relationship between trauma and gender.
Class 7 Disease and Representation: Understand the relationship between Disease and Representation.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
