Syllabus

Course overview and goals

It is new project to learn about viriety of cultural understandings. Since 2019, the contents of this course published as MOOC delivered by EdX.
Foreign students and Japaense students can discuss on news topics on law and understand legal system. (welcom a student who is unfamiliar with Japanese-Chiese characters)
This course will help students removing some difficulty to study law because of some images of difficult. Students will aquire basic legal knowledge to avoid trouble to live as university students and adults.

Course description and aims

To understand basics of Japanese Law. It is important for you to protect yourself from ilegal matter and risks.
Students various countries will exchange and share basic law in their countries.

Based on lacturr's experience as a researcher at the software protection institution, students can practically understand both Japanese laws and foreign laws.

At the class, students discuss about the topic at the day. (In 2020, discussion through ZOOM)
Discussion themes are common to every country. This course refes to news in Japan and other counrties to assist understanding of basic legal knowledge. By discussion with colleagues enhance your understanding.

Class 2 Whas is a contract? What is public policy? understand contracts and the public order
Class 3 What is tort? understand tort law comparing contract law
Class 4 What is property? understand property
Class 5 labor understannd labor contracts and protection of workers
Class 6 Family law understand family law
Class 7 Basic Justice System (paper test included) understand civil litigation, criminal procedure.

Study advice (preparation and review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
