Course overview and goals

This course (lecture series) deals with recent topics of R&D and innovation in advanced scientific and technological fields.
This also provides a learning opportunity for the discovery of research themes and the invention and innovation processes. The advanced fields include material science, applied chemistry, production engineering, mechanical science, robotics, physical electronics, electrical and electronic engineering, biotechnology, nanotechnology, mechanical and environmental informatics, computer science, natural science etc., and 6 topics are selected from this pool every year. This course targets all students and does not require scientific and technological background.

Course description and aims

This course aims that students learn trends of R&D in the advanced fields of science and technology, and a way of commercialization of scientific and technological outcomes.

Class flow

The first class provides the overview of this course. The following classes deal with selected topics in an omnibus format where each appointed lecturer covers two classes for a single topic. The final class is dedicated to group discussion and presentations.
