Course overview and goals

In this course, each student gives a talk on various topics such as his/her research topics, future plans, culture or nature of his/her home country in English. The student must prepare the presentation in consideration that the scientific and cultural background of the audience is different. The aim of this course is to give opportunities to understand other students through the communication.

Course description and aims

Students will be able to make presentations in English and to have mutual understandings with students from other countries. Note that each department has different course number for this course.

Class flow

Students give approx. 15min talks each and answer the questions raised by the audience. Students participate in the class as audience when not giving presentations.

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
