シラバス

授業の目的（ねらい）、概要

英語第七を引き継いで、この授業科目では、大学レベルでの学修・研究活動を英語で行うために必要な英語運用力のいっそうの向上を目的とした演習を行う。国際意識の醸成に資する目的で海外事情・異文化理解に関する教材を用いるほか、科学技術に関する英語素材を用いる。英語の読解力と聴解力の向上を目指す訓練に加え、口頭の発話練習および構成を考えながらパラグラフや短いエッセイを書く訓練を行うことによって、英語での発信に習熟することも目指す。

到達目標

この授業科目では、次のような英語の知識と運用力およびコミュニケーションへの姿勢を身につけることが目標となる。
・英語で自己表現する力がつく
・パラグラフや短いエッセイを書く力がつく
・英語の講義を理解する聴解力がつく
・英文を読みこなすための方法が身につく

授業の進め方

Classes will be conducted in the following way:
0. Assignment: Students work on "Introduction" and "Key phrase" sections of each unit before class and submit their answers via Google Forms.
1. Warm-up: Students talk about or describe photos in the "Introduction" in small groups and develop their talk from them.
2. Reading: Read one passage and report the content to other group members.
3. Data: Students learn to illustrate data accurately.
4. "Sharing your thoughts": Students prepare a very short presentation or practice an ad hoc conversation on the given topics.
5. Group research/feedback to class: students feedback the result of their group discussions to class or they are sometimes expected to do bit of research.

準備学修(事前学修・復習)等についての指示

学修効果を上げるため，教科書や配布資料等の該当箇所を参照し，「毎授業」授業内容に関する予習と復習（課題含む）をそれぞれ概ね100分を目安に行うこと。

成績評価の方法及び基準

Google Forms (35%), Final exam (30%), Participation in the presentation/debate session (10%), Video recording of your presentation (25%)
